OBJECTIVES AND SELF APPRAISAL
SHORT RANGE GOALS
" To prepare students for award of
B. Tech degree in Electrical Engineering of international
standards,
with well-qualified and trained faculty, supporting staff,
well-equipped and maintained classrooms
and laboratories."
LONG RANGE GOALS
" To start more postgraduate programmes
in other emerging areas, and to maintain
better relationships between industry and the Department."
" To organise curriculum development
programmes and to take up consultancy
programmes to cater to the requirements of the industries
and organisations."
" To organise continuing education
programmes."
" To strengthen the Department as a
major Research and Consultancy Centre."
EXTENT OF ACHIEVEMENTS
- The Department has well qualified and well trained faculty
members
- All the laboratories have well equipped and maintained
equipments with trained supporting staff.
- All class rooms and seminar halls and well furnished
and well equipped.
- Department maintains good interaction with industries
and research organizations.
- The students are given training in industries and frequent
industrial visits are arranged.
- Personality development programmes are organised inviting
experts from industry, and management organisations.
- Department undertakes industrial projects and consultancy
works.
- Teachers are trained under quality improvement programmes
at all QIP centres of the
country.
- Faculty members and students participate in seminars
by presenting technical papers
based on their research work and projects.
- The students graduated from this department are occupying
key positions in
internationally reputed organizations throughout the world.
Most of the members of the alumni chapters functioning
at various parts of the world like Bangalore, Cochin,Trivandrum,
Chennai, Dubai, Quatar, Muscat, Saudi Arabia, USA and
UK are from this Department.
Summary of major developments and progress achieved
during the last five years
Performance of the department has been uniformly
good. Summary of the results, placements through the Training
and Placement cell shows steady progress. New machines and
computers with latest software are attached to the various
labs. Amenities like Seminar room with OHP / LCD projector and other modern
facilities have been added.
A large number of the faculty members have either completed
Ph. D. or undergoing Ph. D programmes. Curriculum has been
reorganized to cater to the needs of the industry, Government services and considering
the latest developments in Engineering and Technology.
